MEET THE ARTIST

Carl Surges is a lifelong sculptor with a love of dinosaurs and a sharp sense of humor that launches Earth's beloved prehistoric beings into the 21st century with wit and panache. Based in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, Carl uses polyresin to create three-dimensional characters designed to delight, educate and enhance the surroundings of dinosaur enthusiasts, young and old.

During a 35-year stint as a freelance sculptor in Los Angeles and Wisconsin, Carl sculpted hundreds of life-sized and room-filling figures for major theme parks, including Universal Studios' Adventures of Conan the Barbarian Stage Show, the original King Kong Adventure Ride, the E.T. Adventure Ride and many others. Carl also worked on sculptures for several motion pictures, including "Twilight Zone: The Movie," "Beetlejuice," "Ghost Busters 3" and "Anachrophobia."

From the mid-1980s through the turn of the century, Carl sculpted tabletop figurines for gift and toy companies including The Walt Disney Co., Mattel Creations, Enesco, LLC, and many others. Today, Carl enjoys creating and sculpting new, rib-tickling versions of his Sassy Jurassic™ line of dinosaur figurines at his home in Conover, Wisconsin.
