'EARLY TAIL-GATORS'

Ironically the fear of smaller reptiles in this early sauropod line provided an unwitting evolutionary advantage for herpetophobosaurus in that predatory opportunists could be temporarily satisfied with their first bite of tail-gator meat for long enough to allow their main meal to escape. Incidentally, this could also explain why modern crocodilians have spikier tails today.
